Papers, 1913,1949. 1913

Papers in the collection include: Johnson's birth certificate, 1913; letters of recommendation (5) November 1942, three of which are on letterhead from his associates at the Indiana Farm Bureau Co-operative Association; and his divorce papers, October 1949. Photographs of Johnson in the collection include: his baby photograph, July 10, 1913; his high school graduation photograph [1931]; a photograph of him as a string bass player in a cowboy band, undated; World War II photographs of Johnson in naval uniform, two with family members, and one with a woman [perhaps his future wife?]; and a tinted photograph of his parents, ca. 1940s. Other photographs in the collection are of Torval Bersian, 1941, in his U.S. Navy uniform; Herman B. Harris in his U.S. army uniform, ca. 1940s; and an unidentified man, probably in the Pacific during World War II. Harris' dog tag is also included. These men were likely friends of Johnson. The photographs are of various sizes, and all but the tinted one are black and white.
